The Moomins were created by Finnish author and artist, Tove Jansson! Her beloved series has spawned books, shows, movies, merchandise, a theme park, cafes, and so much more! the first official appearance of a moomin like character was seen in the Garm magazine in 1935, but the first time she drew it was after an argument with her brother, scribbling the ugliest creature she could on his shed in rage! She titled this creature 'Kant', due to their earlier argument about the philosopher. How cool! the first book was published in 1945, and she made nine books, the last one being published in 1970. My personal favourite was Moominpapa's Memoirs!

i love the moomins dearly, and have since around 2019. I found it while scrolling through an anime piracy site, and fell in love almost instantly! The moomins have given me a great comfort at a notably troubling point during my life due to its outlook on life. The welcoming and loving nature of the Moomintrolls and their willingness to take in those who need them is inspiring, and the overall love of nature and peace is beautiful. The moomims teaches you to love your time alone, and to love the people around you equally as much. Accepting others for who they are and respecting nature are all things we should bring into our lives, and i know that the peaceful lives of Moomin and friends helped me find a much needed peace. As well as the fact that ive been able to discover my family's Finnish heritage! My father was born to a Finnish mother, in a heavily populated Finnish area. We grew up on the amazing Finnish pancakes my dad made on special occasions, and being able to learn just a bit more about my father and my grandmother / grandfather through the Moomins was wonderful! Overall, the love and care for others thats present throughout the Moomins is beautiful, and thats why i reccomend all should give this beautiful series a chance! ive also started a small collection, ill put some photos in soon!
